Steve Bannon has left the Trump Administration’s National Security Council (NSC) according to the Washington Examiner:
According to a National Security Presidential Memorandum in the Federal Register, Bannon is off the council and Homeland Security Adviser Tom Bossert has been demoted.
National security adviser H.R. McMaster is now in charge of setting the agenda for meetings of the council and can delegate that responsibility to Bossert, if he so chooses.
The news of his departure is quite welcome -especially when you consider what a massive mistake it was to appoint a propagandist alt-right nationalist scumbag like Steve Bannon to a presidential cabinet to begin with. As far as how involved he still is or is not, that is apparently a matter of debate. For one source says the following:
Clarification for my colleagues: Bannon wasn't removed from the NSC, only from the NSC principals committee. He still attends NSC meetings.

However, according to the report cited by The Washington Examiner:
“Bannon never attended a meeting of the council and Trump felt he was no longer needed to be on it.”
We usually hear that they “wanted to spend more time with family” when someone leaves a political post. Bannon however claimed the following according to Breitbart:
“Susan Rice operationalized the NSC during the last administration. I was put on to ensure that it was de-operationalized,” Bannon said in a statement to the Wall Street Journal.
As far as his exit goes, from all appearances Mr. Bannon is trying to play this up as a George Constanza-like “going out on a high note” kind of strategy:
Apparently, from the perspective of President Trump, things were viewed differently:

Imagine that: a president who loves the limelight themselves does not want to share it!
I expect participants in the #RedKoolAidBrigade to parrot the Trump version of events throughout what remains of conservative media. I am also sure that speculation as to the timing of this news will be plentiful as these sorts of things are rarely coincidental. At the present time, I simply want to say where alt-right Bannon is concerned: good riddance to bad rubbish!
